Reunited: Missing Cat Returned Home After 11 Years On The Streets

We cannot stress this enough -- please microchip your pets! 

Thankfully, Eve McDonnell did microchip her beloved cat, Missy. 

11 years ago, Missy escaped from McDonnell's car and despite searching for her -- she was never found. Until now! Residents nearby noticed a cat living amongst rubbish and were able to capture and take her into a local rescue center where they discovered she was microchipped! 

You can imagine Ms McDonnell's surprise to receive a call that her cat from 11 years ago (and now 17-years-old) is alive and well!

    "I never stopped thinking about her. You just don't forget your pets - they are irreplaceable," McDonnell tells BBC, after an emotional reunion with Missy.

    Ali Shah and his mother Salma had been the ones to notice Missy living amongst the rubbish. The pair befriended Missy and would feed her and even built a wooden shed for her to sleep in.

    Then the pair took her to the Little Haven Rescue in Sutton Coldfield.

    Now reunited with McDonnell, Missy is back to living the good life! "She's had a rough time, but she's still my cat," Ms McDonnell said. "I can't believe she's alive, I never stopped thinking about her."
